They bookmark the eBay page where your out-of-print editions show up. They come to your openings. They have you sign their copies. They buy the t-shirt, and the mug, and the hat. They are true fans – You need to acquire only 1,000 True Fans to make a living.”
And Kevin Kelly blog Post inspired marketing Guru Seth Godin to reiterate the message in his Blog post “First, organize 1,000” …. “Instead of speed dating your way to interruption, instead of yelling at strangers all day trying to make a living, coordinating a tribe of 1,000 requires patience, consistency and a focus on long-term relationships and life time value.”
Few members are inspired by continuously growing their connections inventory whereas others few reiterate focus on quality connections. I believe the two messages are not two messages but one core message. i.e Invest your resources (Invites and Time) on QUALITY connections. And continue accepting invites from other members as well.
My message is set a guidelines that you will accept invites from members who have a Clear Photograph, Job Title, name of the Company, 25 connections and more. These are your Quantity connections. Tag them for future filtering. Quantity connections could be Job Seekers, junior titles, students, interns who could become influencers in next 2- 5 years. That’s your future investment.
QUALITY Connections: Send invites to QUALITY connections. Your quality connections are filtered as follows
- Location: ( United Arab Emirates and/or _ _ _ _ _ )
- Industry: (Information Technology and Banking)
- Company: (Dubai Islamic Bank, Invest Bank and so on)
- Title: ( IT Manager, IT Director, CIO, FC and so on)
Build Strong Relations: Build Strong Relations with QUALITY Strong relations are built by making emotional or educational deposit in their account such as wishing, congratulating them on special occasion, engaging their content and Sharing your content with insight. Strong relation is who gives you Referral, Recommendations, Endorsement and engages with you.

Final message: There is no clear number to aim for LinkedIn connections. Simply filter your connections into QUALITY and Quantity. Invest your resources (time and Invites) on QUALITY connections and work out a strategy to nurture 10% of Quantity connections into QUALITY Connections every 365 days.
