“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change.” ? Charles Darwin
LinkedIn is continuously evolving; introducing new features and phasing out the old. This momentum is imperative to keep abreast of other Social Media giants who might be encroaching into LinkedIn domain. But in the momentum to surge ahead LinkedIn has been decimating few good features that could have given them a surge in membership and also aligned with your Vision. In this post I would share my opinion.
- READING LIST: Amazon has over 210 million customers. LinkedIn should resurrect the interface and also negotiate special rates for books for LinkedIn members. This JV would be a win-win for Amazon and LinkedIn contributing towards increase revenue and enhanced experience of LinkedIn members.
- EVENT: This feature should be brought back. It was too early to test out and withdraw “Event.” In the current economic conditions where every individual is a digital publisher, Event platform is a useful tool for the LinkedIn members to convert virtual experience into face to face experience at the click of LinkedIn.
- ELANCE: LinkedIn should purchase or partner with Elance or Elance like platform. This would create economic engine for LinkedIn members. And it’s in line with your mission to “We want to digitally represent every economic opportunity in the world … full-time and part-time”
- EDUCATION PORTAL: The currency of the future is skilled Human Resources hence its important LinkedIn capitalizes on the said segment. LI has already created Education a brilliant initiative to catch them young. I would say add tools to prepare and help students to get inducted in the job market such as awareness about psychometric tools, CV’s preparation (Text and video) and others.
LinkedIn has a revenue engine to benefit LinkedIn but the point is what if LinkedIn could create a revenue engine for LinkedIn members as well. Zig Ziglar once said “You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want”
